Ashley Wood - Extreme Finale | Print | NSFW

Ashley Wood has long been one of my favourite artists. What's not to like about oil paintings of naked girls and robots? He's even recently expanded his subjects to include zombies too! The format of Wood's work varies mainly between traditional oils to digital illustration for film, comics, books and toys.

If his work looks familiar to you but you don't recognise the name, there could be a number of reasons why. Wood has spent over a decade building up a sizeable portfolio of work spending his earlier years focusing on big comic names such as Marvel and DC, Spawn and Tank Girl to name but a few. He has worked with Konami in producing a series of comic books covering the Metal Gear Solid storyline from 2004 and in 2007, Wood provided artwork for the packaging of Reuben's album "In Nothing We Trust".

Extreme Finale is one hell of a book. Compiling previous works included in Sencilla Fanta, Sencilla Finale and Grande Finale (which in themselves were collections of previously out of print books), the final product weighs in at a whopping 8lbs! It does not come cheap either, with copies originally sold for around £75 it is now OOP and has an average price of over £200! It's worth it though. With such a vast collection of work included in such a comprehensive omnibus, Extreme Finale is a collectors wet dream.

You there... yes, you!

Hello old friend.

Welcome to vinyldoodles. From here on in I intend to use this blog as an outlet for the things I truly enjoy in life. Expect posts full of links, pictures, videos and quite possibly some words about records, women, music, art, illustration, photography and anything else I find along the way.

Please, stay a while and look around. Put up your feet, have a whisky, smoke a cigar. Whatever you do, be sure to follow and comment.

I'll be back soon.
